The Rotary Club of Lindenhurst
The Rotary Club of Lindenhurst in conjunction with the Village of Lindenhurst, will sponsor the Annual Snapper Derby 2016 at the Lindenhurst Village Marina on Saturday, August 27th. Registration, which is free-of-charge, is from 8 until 9 a.m. on August 27th and is limited to children ages 5 to 12. Participants will fish from 9 a.m. until noon and must have their poles with them at time of registration.
“Typically, this is a well-attended event. We encourage participants to sign up early as registration will be limited to the first 300 children,” Karen Golden, President of the Lindenhurst Rotary Club said.
From noon until 1 p.m., prizes will be awarded. The boy and girl, who catch and release the heaviest snappers, will receive a 20” bicycle as will the child who catches and releases the most snappers. Trophies will be awarded to second- and third-place winners. Village Trustee Maryann Weckerle added “our Snapper Derbies have been a wonderful family event so come on down to the Lindenhurst Marina on August 27th.”
