Home > Mayor Thomas A. Brennan's Message - Fall 2010
-

Dear Residents,

Well after a very hot summer, with very little rainfall, we look towards a cooler and perhaps, more temperate autumn.  Knowing that winter is just around the corner, we just want to remind you of some fall events.

The Lindenhurst Rotary Club will hold its Annual Octoberfest on the weekend of October 1st through 3rd.   Whether you are a vendor, volunteer or enjoy the various foods, beverages and amusement rides, we look forward to the event being a huge success!

With the cooperation of the Business Improvement District (BID) and the Mayor’s Beautification Society, we are in the process of purchasing additional Holiday Decorations!  Without our gazebo, we will make other arrangements in order to continue our tradition of adorning the Village Park with Holiday Decorations.  We are certain that the Village Park will be decorated with its usual Christmas tree, additional garland and lights, which will add to the celebration of the season.

The BID is still focused on working with the merchants and landlords to fill the vacant stores.  We are awaiting the addition of La Bella Palermo at 101 N. Wellwood Avenue as well as Mangia Una Bella Piatta at 183 S. Wellwood Avenue.  These two restaurant additions will illustrate just how seriously both the Administration and the BID are with continuing the improvement and development of the Business District.

During the next few weeks, there will be many community and local events.  Some are detailed below:

- Join us for the Volunteers Luncheon at the Rainbow Senior Center on Wednesday, October 13th at 11 am.  The Center is located at 253 Buffalo Avenue.  Contact Barbara Poldino at the Rainbow Center at 957-7526 for more information.

- The Chamber of Commerce will be holding its Annual Business Expo at Chateau La Mer, also on Wednesday, October 13th at 6:30 pm.  For information, please contact Tina at 225-2996.

- The Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst is holding its Annual Installation Dinner on Friday, October 22nd at the Chateau La Mer Restaurant.  For information, please contact Angela at 225-9688.

- The Village of Lindenhurst will hold its Annual Family Day and Halloween Party on Saturday, October 23rd at the Railroad Museum Depot at the intersection of South Broadway and S. 3rd St. The festivities begin at 1:30 pm.  Join us for hot dogs, soda, games with prizes and hay rides for the kids!

- The Babylon Council for the Arts (BACCA) will once again bring back its 4th Friday Concert Series.   On Friday, September 24th it’s the Difibulators; Friday October 1st it’s a Long Island Songwriters Showcase; Friday November 19th, its Annie and the Bee Keepers, and Friday, December 10th, its Grammy Award winner, Larry Mitchell.  BACCA is located at 149 N. Wellwood Avenue.  For information, please call 631-991-3510.

- Finally, BACCA will hold its 2nd Annual Harvest Moon Mixer at the Chateau La Mer on Thursday, October 28th.  Tickets are priced at $50.00 p-p. The annual Owen H. Johnson Lifetime Arts Achievement Award will be also presented that evening.  For ticket information, call 631-991-3510.

Our administration continues to encourage residents to share their ideas, suggestions and concerns with us.  Our partnership with the various civic, service and community organizations have continued with our common goal of keeping Lindenhurst as a great place to live, work and enjoy!

Along with the Board of Trustees, our Administrative staff and all the employees of the Village, we look forward to continue to serve the Village to the best of our abilities for the betterment of Lindenhurst!

Please join us for some of the events detailed above!

Best Regards,

Mayor Tom Brennan
