Dear Residents,

Well after a somewhat rainy summer, so far we are having a very nice autumn.  We know that winter appears to be just around the corner, so we just want to remind you of some fall events.

The Lindenhurst Rotary Club wishes to thank all who participated in the Annual Octoberfest, whether you were a vendor, volunteer or enjoyed the various foods, beverages and amusement rides!

With the cooperation of the Business Improvement District (BID) and the Mayor’s Beautification Society, we are in the process of purchasing additional Holiday Decorations!  The Village Park will be adorned with it’s own Christmas tree, additional garland and lights, which will add to the celebration of the season.

The BID is still focused on working with the merchants and landlords to fill the vacant stores.  These stores are not empty, they are, however, filled with possibilities!  With help from the Joint Civics Association, we are in the continued process of adding more artwork to these storefronts while we work towards the reinvigoration of the commercial business area.

During the next few weeks, there will be many community and local events.  Some are detailed below:

- Join us for the Volunteers Luncheon at the Rainbow Senior Center on Wednesday, October 14th at 11 am.  The Center is located at 253 Buffalo Avenue.  Contact Barbara Poldino at the Rainbow Center at 957-7526 for more information.

- The Chamber of Commerce will be holding its Annual Business Expo at Chateau La Mer, also on Wednesday, October 14th at 6:30 pm.  Contact Tina at 225-2996.

- The Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst is holding its Annual Installation Dinner on Thursday, October 15th at the Sea Haven Restaurant.  Contact George at 587-4972, or Angela at 225-9688 for more information.

- The Village of Lindenhurst will hold its Annual Family Day and Halloween Party at the Railroad Museum Depot at the intersection of South Broadway and S. 3rd St.  The festivities begin at 1:30 pm.  Join us for hot dogs, soda, games with prizes and hay rides for the kids!

- Finally, BACCA will hold its 2nd Annual Harvest Moon Mixer at the Chateau La Mer on Thursday, October 29th.  Tickets are priced at $50.00 p-p. The annual Owen H. Johnson Lifetime Arts Achievement Award will be also presented to Gus Fishcel, Esq.  For ticket information, please contact Shawn at 957-7504.

Our administration continues to encourage residents to share their ideas, suggestions and concerns with us.  Our partnership with the various civic, service and community organizations have continued with our common goal of keeping Lindenhurst as a great place to live, work and enjoy!

Along with the Board of Trustees, our Administrative staff and all the employees of the Village, we look forward to continue to serve the Village to the best of our abilities for the betterment of Lindenhurst!

Please join us for some of the events detailed above!

Warmest Regards,

Mayor Tom Brennan
