NOTICE
COASTAL
ZONE SOUTH 9TH STREET
ROADRAISING
AND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
This
is to give notice that the Village of Lindenhurst has applied
for United States Housing and Urban Development, Community
Development Block Grant funds through the Town of Babylon
Community Development Agency for the proposed Coastal Zone Flood
Mitigation Project on South 9th Street from Montauk
Highway south to Strong’s Creek.
This project is located within the 100-year Floodplain
and Wetland.
This
notice is required by Section 2(a)(4) of Executive Order 11988
for Floodplain Management, and by Section 2(b) of Executive
Order 11990 for the Protection of Wetlands, and is implemented
by HUD Regulations found at 24 CFR 55.20(b) for the HUD action
that is within and/or affects a floodplain or wetland.
The
Lindenhurst Village Board held a public hearing on May 20, 2008.
Since then a New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation Permit has been obtained.
All contract documents have been finalized.
Prior to open and competitive bidding the Lindenhurst
Village Board is allowing time for additional public comments.
A public informational meeting is scheduled at
Lindenhurst Village Hall, 430 South Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst
with the Village Engineer on Thursday, February 26, 2009
beginning at 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm.
