THE
INCORPORATED VILLAGE OF LINDENHURST, THE JOINT CIVIC ASSOCIATION OF
LINDENHURST AND THE SUFFOLK COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT TEAM UP TO
EDUCATE PARENTS
"The
cure for the problem is KNOWLEDGE & PREVENTION!"
A special presentation by The Narcotics Division of the
Suffolk County Police Department on Drug Use Awareness/Prevention
Drug
abuse among adolescents and young adults has reached epic
proportions on Long Island as the cost of illicit drugs has
dropped and their availability makes them so easily obtained. In
an effort to educate parents and create an increased awareness
of this growing problem, the Village of Lindenhurst, The Joint
Civics Association and the Suffolk County Police Department have
joined forces to offer this special program for parents.
The
Mayor of Lindenhurst, Tom Brennan, says “I strongly encourage
all parents to attend this eye-opening presentation” Mr.
Brennan, who is also a local funeral director continues, “All
too often when the death of a young person is attributed to
drugs, the resounding sentiment within the family is, if only we
had known what to look for. This presentation gives parents that
important insight.”
Mr.
John Lisi president of the Joint Civic Association of
Lindenhurst says “Drug abuse does not discriminate. It takes
place in the best and worst areas of communities and has
absolutely no prejudice of race, religion or color. Please
attend this important presentation designed specifically for the parents of children & young
adults
and learn what you can do to fight drug abuse in our
community”.
