Notice – West Nile Virus Precaution
August 26, 2010
Dear Resident,
The Village has been notified
by the Suffolk County Department of Health that a positive test
for West Nile Virus was recently found in Fireman’s Park,
north of Charles Street. As a result, and as a precaution
to protect public health, the Health Department recommended to
the Village that Fireman’s Park as well as Village Park
(Feller’s Pond), south of Charles Street, be closed from 6pm
to 8am until further notice. Therefore, all scheduled
outdoor activities in these two Village parks during these hours
are hereby cancelled.
The county will continue to
monitor this area and will advise the Village when it is safe to
reopen the parks for evening activities.
Thank you for your co-operation
in this matter. I have enclosed some general information
about West Nile Virus for your review. Please contact
Lindenhurst Village Hall for any further questions.
Sincerely,
Thomas A. Brennan, Mayor
