CULLINANE ELECTED
TO NYCLASS
BOARD OF
GOVERNORS
Shawn
Cullinane, Clerk-Treasurer of the Inc. Village of Lindenhurst,
has been elected to the
NYCLASS
(New York Cooperative Liquids Assets Securities System) Board of
Governors effective
February 1, 2011. NYCLASS
is a municipal investment cooperative with over 650 school
districts,
BOCES, townships, cities, and villages as members.
It is authorized under NYS General Municipal
Law with the purpose of collectively investing municipal
financial resources to maximize interest and
return on investments, as well as provide liquidity and security
of the assets on behalf of its members.
The
Board of Governors establishes policies for NYCLASS and monitors
the investments in
accordance
with NYCLASS guidelines and state law.
The
NYCLASS Governing Board is comprised of 15 elected
representatives from five regions across
New York State. They
serve at no compensation for a three year term.
Mr. Cullinane is one of three
Nassau County and Suffolk County Region 5 representatives.
Mr.
Cullinane has been the Village Clerk of the Village of
Lindenhurst since 1988 and Treasurer since
2000. His previous
municipal service includes being Assistant to the Town of
Babylon Town Board.
He has been designated a Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) by the
International Institute of Municipal
Clerks (IIMC) based on his education, training and experience in
the Municipal Clerk profession. He
is
one of only 14 municipal clerks in all of New York State to earn
this distinction.
Mr.
Cullinane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oswego State
University and a Juris Doctor
from Touro College of Law. In
addition to his own training, Mr.Cullinane has been a lecturer
on
municipal subjects at numerous governmental conferences and
seminars.
Mr. Cullinane is actively
involved in IIMC, the New York State Association of City and
Village Clerks, serves on the
Lindenhurst Library Board of Trustees and as President of the
Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts
Board of Directors.
