Biographies
Thomas
Brennan - Village Mayor
Tom was appointed Village Trustee
in May 1999 to fill a vacancy and was elected in March 2000 for a full
4-year term as Trustee. He
successfully ran for Mayor in March 2004 after the retirement of
Mayor Lynda Distler. He
has been a Village resident for over 40 years, is married and has raised
3 children.
Tom is a Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post, Rotary
International and Kiwanis Clubs, Lindenhurst Historical Society,
the Knights of Columbus, the Ancient Order of Hibernians as well
as the Loyal Order of Moose. He
also serves as a Lindenhurst National Little League Executive Board
Member, a Director and a Manager.
Mayor
Brennan is also a local businessman as a Director of the Lindenhurst
Funeral home as well as a member of the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce.
He is the recent winner of the Pride of Lindenhurst Award
presented by the Lindenhurst Board of Education.
Kevin McCaffrey -
Village Trustee (Deputy Mayor) Trustee Kevin
McCaffrey was first elected to the Village Board in 1990 after serving
as Chairman of the Planning Board. He served as Deputy Mayor and is
currently the liaison for the Fire Council, Parks Department and Finance
Committee. Past President of the Meridale Park Civic Association, he is
active in the Lindenhurst National Little League and CYO Basketball. He
is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Irish-American Teamsters.
President of Teamster Local 707, Chairman of the Unions Health, Welfare
& Pension Funds. He is a 1972 Graduate of Berner H.S. in Massapequa,
he attended SUNY Farmingdale. He has been a resident of Lindenhurst
since 1984 where he resides with his wife Julie and his children Michael
and Katie.
Jodi
Caravella -
Village Trustee:
Jodi
was elected Village Trustee in March 2004.
She has been a resident of Lindenhurst Village for over 20 years
and is married and has 3 children.
She has recently finished her term as President of the
Lindenhurst Middle School PTA and has served as the Vice-President of
the Lindenhurst Council of PTAs.
She
has also been the President of the Allegheny School PTA and served on
it’s Parents As Reading Partners (PARP) Committee.
Jodi was the past Coordinator of the Allegheny Avenue Pre-School
Program for 7 years.
She also was the recipient of the New York State Honorary Life
Award given for distinguished service to children and youth.
Michael
Lavorata -
Village Trustee:
Mike
was elected Village Trustee in March 2004.
He has been a resident of the Village of Lindenhurst for 20
years.
He is married and has a daughter.
Prior to his election, Mike served for 10 years on the Board of
Zoning Appeals and one year on the Planning Board.
He
is a member of the Lindenhurst Historical Society, the Mayor’s
Beautification Society and the Kiwanis Club.
Mike has served on the World War II Memorial Committee and is the
founder of the Greater Daniel Street Civic Association and also served
as it’s first President.
He is also a member of the John Bosco Chapter of the Sons of
Italy.
Mike also served on the Daniel Street PTA and as Chairman of the
PARP Program for 3 years.
He was also a recipient of the Daniel Street PTA’s Wendy
DeFrancisco Memorial Ward in 2003.
Mike
has been an Electrical Engineer for over 20 years working on various
Military Programs as a Consultant and is currently employed as a Senior
Project Engineer for a large Public Safety Corporation here on Long
Island.
Maryann
Weckerle - Village Trustee:
Maryann was elected to her first public office as Village Trustee in
March 2006.
She is a lifelong resident of Lindenhurst and is married with one
son.
Her past includes extensive involvement with the local PTAs,
having chaired many committees and serving on the District Planning Team
for Site-based Management and the PTA Council Scholarship Committee.
Maryann is a past president of the Lindenhurst Historical Society
and presently serves as its treasurer.
Other involvement includes executive board member status with the
Mayor's Beautification Society, member of the Lindenhurst Chamber of
Commerce, member of the Lindenhurst Rotary Club, recipient of the Rotary
Club's Community Service Award with her husband, Tom, in 2005, and board
member of the Village of Lindenhurst's Business Improvement District.
Maryann is the proprietor of a family-owned 50 year-old local
small business.
She is a graduate of Lindenhurst High School and has a B.A. in
Business Administration from Molloy College.
Village Justice H. John Bopp:
John Bopp was elected Village Justice in 1990.
He is married and has 5 children.
He is a life long Village resident and has had a private law
practice here for over 20 years. He was also an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County
for over 4 years.
Judge Bopp is a former Law Clerk with the Town of Babylon
and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. He is also the founder of the Lindenhurst Bulldog Lacrosse
Association.
He
is a Graduate of Lindenhurst High School, Rutgers College and New York
Law School
